Done and done

Semester Fall 2007 has been wrapped up as of yesterday’s grueling 2 hour final in Circuits class. It was a wretched test that pushed the very limits of my recollection, and, in at least 2 cases, exceeded it. Ah well. Hopefully we’ll see what the grades say when it’s all done.
Now, on to other important, non-school-related-but-not-relaxing stuff.
- We need to find a Christmas tree. Matthew wished to go into the wilderness and fell one, but I’m not sure we’ll exactly have the scheduling egress to accommodate such a luxury. We may have to be relegated to buying one from the local Optimist clubs. Then, we have the added expense of having to buy some extra ornaments so the tree doesn’t look completely naked and pathetic.
- I need to schedule a carpet cleaning. Last year I did it myself and it took four post-work-hour evenings to wash just three areas using a rented Rug Doctor. I think this time I’ll try Stanley Steemer and see how that goes.
- I have to begin my self study of physics to prep for the coming semester. No sense dawdling since I already know that I’m a special kind of stupid on this subject. I suspect it’s probably wise to begin steeping my brain in it early to allow for a more robust overall percolation of data.
- I need to put the house back to general orderliness since school’s over for a while. It’s not nice to leave my books and notes and eraser shavings strewn everywhere.
- I need to tidy/organize/open-up the extra bedroom and prepare it for occupants (hooray!). I think I’ll be tearing down all the media shelves I put up - they’re nifty and all, but take up a lot of space. I’ll probably pack the media into containers that could either stack in the garage or slide under the bed. I’m also toying with donating my stuffed hippo herd to charity. I don’t know where else to put it, or what else to do with it. They never get any attention and just collect dust. That seems like a waste. We’ll see about that, though.
- I already detoxed my pantry and gave much of my general baking supplies (sugar, cake mixes, chocolates, etc…) to Noah. I retained many of my baking pans (I need the pie plates in case I ever dare to make quiche again) and some flour, baking powder, nuts, and flavored extracts. I figured it was less risky to my waistline to simply oust the stuff from my general proximity and giving it to Noah was a lot smarter than throwing it all in the trash. With Noah’s grand skill for cooking/baking, I’m confident he’ll find a non-detrimental use for it all. Whenever I bake, I have to sample (don’t want to poison anyone, y’know) and when I start sampling, my ass balloons at a rate 10x proportional to the quantity of sampling I indulged in. So, to avoid any ballooning, don’t sample. To avoid sampling, don’t bake. To avoid baking, get rid of the materials which facilitate it. Simple!
- I need to spend some time getting to know Final Cut Pro on my laptop. And, Soundtrack. And, LiveType. And Garage Band.
That should take me through to January 20-something when the next semester starts.
