An odd thing to feel sad about

This week is the 12th Annual Pink Elephant IT Service Management & Exhibition. Of all the work I was doing in my last job, getting to start with the ITIL program and dig into it, learning how it can benefit IT groups of all sizes and complexity was truly one of the most invigorating times. I got to go to the 11th Annual conference last year and it was sensational. I signed up for a whole mess of talks and managed to get to nearly all. It was probably the only time going to Las Vegas wasn’t a depressing prospect. It was such a motivating environment. Everyone there was in the same boat as I was and we were all just as motivated to help evoke change to make things better. Buckets upon buckets of useful, applicable information rained down from every breakout room. It was awesome.
I’m missing it this year, and I’m really sad about that. Granted, it’s my own fault I’m missing it. I could’ve kept the old job, but that’s a series of reminiscings that are for another post. Suffice to say, I wish I was there. Soaking up the kickassery of it all.
