Benefits of Pregnancy: The rocking chair
Posted by E-George on April 24, 2008
A while back, during a time I call the Fog of Perpetual Vomiting, Matthew and I went to our local Lazy Boy dealer to scope out chairs. I had already tried sitting in a few gliding rockers at the Babies (backwards R) Us and wasn’t really impressed. Mostly because the ones they had didn’t have backs that went up far enough for me to rest my head. Therefore, I had decided that my great wish was to have a rocking easy chair that was both fluffy and sufficiently tall that I could rest my head. While at Lazy Boy, I learned that there are actual sizes of chairs, that, similar to pants, come in Small, Medium, and Large. Large was absurd. My feet couldn’t even touch the ground so any rocking momentum would have had to come from my lurching my torso back and forth. Medium was nearly as absurd with just my toes barely scraping the ground.
Small fit like a butt-glove, with my feet flat on the floor, my head resting on the head part, and the rest of my comfortably hugged in fluffiness. It didn’t hurt that the salesman kept referring to the chair of choice by its model name, “The Patrick.” So, we bought the non-leather version of The Patrick. I cannot express how excited I am to have The Patrick. It’s arrived at the warehouse this week and I get to go pick it up today. I will love The Patrick, I just know it.

my rocker was my favorite piece of furniture even before the baby was born because there is nothing like comfy fluffiness when you’re very pregnant.
Congrats!
