It will all snap back…mostly

Mom: So, are you pretty dedicated to breastfeeding your baby?
Me:Â As dedicated as I can be to do something I’ve never done before.
Mom: It’s very rewarding and healthy, but a lot of times around the 6-week mark it’s very hard and you’ll want to give up.
Me: OK. I’ll keep that in mind.
Mom: Are you going to prepare for breastfeeding?
Me: What, like, nipple-twisting?
Mom: <heavy sigh> No. Like, preparing the the skin to be stretched.
Me: Stretched?! Stretched how?
Mom: Well, kind of like a water ballon would be stretched.
Me: A water balloon?! I’m going to become a water balloon? A stretched water balloon? Is nothing sacred? Everything is stretching out! There won’t be a part of my body that won’t have been stretched in some fashion before this is all over!
Mom: No, no. Don’t worry. Everything snaps back.
Me: Really?
Mom: Well… mostly.

one word. HILARIOUS!! You and your mom just summed up the entire frustration of pregnancy in a very short conversation. However, it’s worth it. Titus is a tough baby, but I still smile every time i say “I love you!” and he smiles and says, “too!” I can almost cry thinking about it. Isn’t that weird? The whole parenting saga is still a mystery to me.
