Unbridled domesticity

I have a domestic side. >GASP!< NO! Surely not... But wait! My story gets better! Sometimes I feel the urge to do crafts. The kind of crafts that require a trip (or [squeal!] multiple trips) to Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby is a unique place if for only these two reasons: (1) the whole place reeks of an sensory cacophony of silk plants and potpourri and (2) every time I’m there I get behind one of our cherished elderly whose myopic state has not dissuaded them from writing checks and requesting a full receipt review before vacating the check-out spot.

I went to Hobby Lobby last weekend, having been struck by a mad idea. Earlier in the week, I had bought some plastic white egg shells for my neice, Anah, who has a play kitchen and could always use some new play foods. But, the more I thought about it, I realized what a bummer it would be to crack an egg and have nothing come out. So, I did what any self-respecting auntie would do: I ripped of someone else’s idea and executed it with considerably less skill. Were it not for my mother-in-law chipping in her valuable skills, most of these items would not have come out as well as they did. In the end, we were able to create a nice little farmer’s market basket of play food – one for Anah and one for Addison. Hopefully they get lots of fun and play out of it. Otherwise, their parents are going to be good and annoyed with me for littering their house with more crap. I’ve annotated the pictures, just in case it isn’t obvious.
