Out with the old and in with the expensive

Our house sold, luckily. And, by all market standards it sold in record time, too. We had been debating between two houses while we waited, and ultimately ended up buying a house that was neither of them. Here’s a satellite photo of it
Residing inside a cul-de-sac, it is 2,620 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, access to the open-space walking trails from the backyard, and a lovely and quite massive pool. Additional benefits is its single level design, so there are no stairs for Berta to deal with or for Evelyn to experience gravity on. Did I mention the views? All the lovely views that we sold with our current house have been returned unto us ten fold. Views, with the added bonus of a covered porch to ogle them from. We are very fortunate to have gotten this house for a price we could afford. More expressly, we are fortunate to have enough money left over to actually update the kitchen, too. The house we sold we updated the kitchen from its 1978 state to a more 2009 state. In the house we just bought the kitchen comfortably resides in 1974, which might not be so bad except there are elements of the kitchen and its design that I find to be loathsome. 1970s era architecture is awesome in all of its glory, but the kitchens from that time are dreadful.
I’m very excited that Evelyn’s first birthday party will likely be a pool party. The seller incentivized his counter offer by throwing in the remaining firewood, pool chemicals, and two (count ‘em, TWO!) floating lounge chairs. Such a deal!
We close on Casa de Singletary September 2, and close on Sack Views September 3. It should prove inordinately fun to figure out the logistics of how that’s all going to work out. For now it looks like we have enough boxes, but I’m on the hunt for packing materials – newspapers, packing peanuts, bubble wrap and the like.
In other news, one of Evelyn’s top teeth is giving her quite a bit of heck. It has been bothering her enough that she’ll stop in the middle of her play to gnaw on something – anything – really hard and then whimper or cry a little bit before getting back to playing. The notion of using another pain reliever other than Tylenol had never crossed my dinosaur-capacity walnut-sized brain until Anna mentioned using Infant Motrin drops. Tonight is the first night trying those. Hopefully it helps. It would seem that Phil, the Prince of Insufficient Light has been tormenting her, too, because she’s been sleeping more like a newborn and less like a 10.5 month old. My poor little baby.

Congrats! We just sold both our little two bedroom homes in P-town and bought a new one with a view as well. Of Lloyd Center, but still a view. Our kitchen is more like a 1911 kitchen, so upgrades will be in order there too. Good luck!

Hyland’s or Humpheries teething pills. They are all natural and they are a miracle! I never have to use anything else. Also, I will have a ton of boxes that you can have after next week. One caveat-you will have to come pick them up…..from McAllen! Let me know when you are on your way!

BEACH PARTY! You got there OK? I’m really sad I didn’t get to give you a hug before you left and nibble on Tanner’s cheeks! Sounds like we just need to come up there!
