Finding winter’s funny bone
Posted by E-George on December 31, 2009
Winter is not my season. There are only a handful of people I know who relish the winter months and delight in the onset of snow or other wintery inclementness. <Tangent: One of my favorite people, Charlie, once remarked when stepping out into air that had suddenly turned unpleasantly brisk, “Oh yeah… 70 [...]

A foray into chocolate
Posted by E-George on December 22, 2009
After taking a creative hiatus for the last eight or so years, I decided to exercise that part of my personality once again, this time in the form of candy making. Where candy = chocolate. I didn’t think it would be hugely smart to be smelting sugar around Evelyn and figured if she [...]

Packing
Posted by E-George on August 19, 2009
Um. Yeah. Not much progress has been made on this task, but that is mostly my fault. I’m slowly coming around to the notion that it is the woman’s (wherein “Woman” refers to the allegedly top-tier female within a family structure) responsibility to gain and keep momentum on projects that are otherwise distasteful. [...]

7 months

Evelyn is now seven months, and does it ever show. She sits up on her own, grasps things, rolls over easily, and puts anything she can reach into her mouth. Of late, her favorite game is Swat Mom’s Head, followed closely by Swat Mom’s Head With A Solid Plastic Toy.

Today Evelyn is four months old. Four months after it took two days to get her here. Four months of learning each others habits. Four months of feasting on those perfectly spherical cheeks. Four months of adoring those two scoops of cottage cheese that is her baby butt. Four months doesn’t [...]

Today is Evelyn’s 3 month date of birth commemoration. It’s been easier in some ways than I had thought, and harder in others. Easier in that the caring of Evelyn throughout each day and night wasn’t as complicated or confounding as I had originally anticipated. It is amazing what instincts can do [...]

1 Month
Posted by E-George on October 20, 2008
Today Evelyn is 1 month old.
It has been 4 weeks of learning and adjusting with all the smoothness of an 8 second ride strapped to the back of an agitated bull named World War Three. From what I can tell, that’s all parenthood is: a protracted episode of Learning and Adjusting. I’m not sure if [...]

In a couple of weeks…
Posted by E-George on October 10, 2008
That is the supreme answer for everything in this new world of Babydom, I’ve learned.
“When will I stop feeling so damn sore in places I didn’t know I could be sore?” In a couple of weeks…
“When will I stop practically blacking out every time Evelyn latches on to nurse?” In a couple of weeks…
“When will [...]
