Matlab Inventor visits ECE101 Class at UNM
It was deeply inspiring. For a class that was supposed to be a snore and general waste of time, I found that several of the lecturers piqued my curiosity. At long last, I heard about a computer engineering study concentration that appealed to me: An interdisciplinary [...]

Commence week 7
Posted by E-George on November 10, 2008
It’s been a while since I posted an Evelyn picture.
She’s not this little anymore. In fact, she’s notably larger. I would guess she’s more than 10 pounds now and continues to stretch out. Things of note this week:
Nursing is no longer a miserably terrorizing experience. It’s more like a private party for just [...]

If it weren’t for the smiles
Posted by E-George on November 8, 2008
Evelyn smiles. A lot. And, she smiles so damn big that you have to smile back. I defy anyone not to smile back. I’ve tried to get pictures of it, but it’s hard to get her to smile, focus the camera, and take the picture all at the same time. Especially when it’s [...]

Crisis? Confusion? or Negative Self Indulgence?
Posted by E-George on August 31, 2008
This has been a time fraught with reflection and, pardon the cliche, soul searching. Not so much regarding having a baby or being a parent. That is its very own compartmentalized panic attack that I only take out and play with when I’m overly tired and know I won’t be able to control it.
No, [...]

Come to me, mommy superpowers!
Posted by E-George on August 26, 2008
I don’t like holding someone else’s newborn. The pressure is too great. The parents are too paranoid. The mother is watching. Judging. The baby is too little.
Last night I held (more accurately, I was passed the baby from another classmate who made it look like the easiest thing in the world to hold a curled [...]

An Oscar for Pure Awesomeness
Posted by E-George on June 2, 2008
It occurred to me yesterday while I sat perched on my brother’s futon couch watching Transformers that there really should be an Oscar category for Pure Awesomeness. (I think I may have heard this idea from someone else, but I’m taking and running with it anyway.) That way movies that pack a lot of kickassery [...]

The Gweat Sta-WETCH of Dewivewy
Posted by E-George on May 17, 2008
Went and saw Baby Mama today with my fellow pregnant friend, and pregnancy alumnus, Jessica.
A character they don’t show you in the previews is probably the best character in the film and it’s Steve Martin playing a hippie organic food store chain owner who rewards his employees by giving them, “Five minutes of uninterrupted eye [...]

Incredible surge of patriotism
Posted by E-George on
I need to get out of this sick phase so I spend less time laying on the couch watching TV and wishing I was knocked unconcious. As it is, that’s the routine for now until such time as my body decides it’ll be more fun to move into the gradual swelling phase. Last night was [...]

Money
Posted by E-George on February 29, 2008
It’s flat. Paper or silver (or gold, or copper). Covered in germs. And issued by by the government as “official legal tender.”
What’s not money: Rectangular, flat, plastic, embossed cards issued by anyone in a soup of predatory lending industries.
Let’s recap:
Money: Tangible, real, and (in most cases) in one’s wallet, creating a contemplative spending lifestyle.
Not money: [...]
